How does Cutera Xeo Nd:YAG Work?

The Xeo Nd:YAG handpiece destroys pigmented and vascular lesions by the process of selective photothermolysis. It works by emitting highly controlled laser energy into the areas of skin imperfection, which in turn increases the blood temperature at a level that causes coagulation while preventing damage to the surrounding tissue. As a result, the abnormal blood vessels causing the vascular lesion start to shrink and are naturally eliminated by the cells of the immune system. In the case of pigmentation, the laser energy is absorbed by the melanin in the skin, increasing the temperature within the pigment and ultimately destroying it.
